How does the RS-I system function to remove scale?
The RS-I systems incorporate Filtersorb SP media, engineered in Europe,
which acts as a catalyst with molecular patterns on its surface on which,
depending upon the calcium and magnesium carbonate content of the water,
calcite crystals grow. When these crystals reach a size in nanometers, they
detach and are carried away in the water supply.
What happens to the iron? How does it remove SO MUCH IRON?????
The Filtersorb SP media acts as a catalyst that oxidizes dissolved iron (Fe2+) in
seconds to a precipitated particulate form which is then removed by the second tank
by conventional filtration(described on back). The advantage of this system is that
no chemicals or regeneration are required*. A simple daily or second day backwash
is required.
There is no filtration effect with the SP media. Due to the up-flow configuration of
the system, water is continuously backwashing the media. Only the second tank
needs to be backwashed daily or every second day to ensure that the iron particulate
is removed.
There is NO pH alteration required within the range of 6.5 to 11.
